Episode Forty four

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...yawn

How it was
Okay, here's the deal, while I was recuperating, I actually read my posts. I found out what a boring pile of nonsense this whole blog is. Trouble is, I usually write these posts early in the morning - a time when my brain begins to shutdown. I write nonsense on a notepad then copy and paste on the blog some time later without reading what the nonsense is all about. Time for a change.

A lot of tweaking and drastic changes
If you were with me since day one (2005), you'd be surprised. Because in the beginning things were stupid, really stupid. There were so many ideas. None of them were great. Now, after some serious discussions about a lot of things, we've decided to rewrite the bloody story once again (third time). Yes, not just the story, but everything else. We've realized how people are bored with Star Wars, and I met someone my age who doesn't know the Original Trilogy exists. Must be some alien. So we sat down and discussed, we've decided to do a different version of Star Wars Fan Film, no jokes no BS. We want to make a film that people will take seriously. At FINAS, I got to chat with Afdlin Shauki, he said I need to make something new, I only slept two hours the night before, I wasn't sure if I was paying attention to the man. But later our team regrouped and a lot of things were thrown out. The change begins.

How we want it to be
We've decided to make the film believable. No more technological nonsense like airspeeders. If something is supposed to work, it had better work. The weapons in our Fan movie will have bullets and ammo clips. No more airspeeders from the Jetsons. If something flies, it's not a flying car. There will be roads and highways and vehicles with wheels. Speeder bikes no longer exist. A serious lack of lasers. No more Stormtroopers (maybe not). No more politics mumbo jumbo. No more Jedis like the ones in the New Trilogy who can't fight bare handed. No more abuse of special fx. No more space combat. No more John Williams theme. No more of those weak lines and bad acting. And no more of that Star Wars Opening Crawl. And no this is not about budget, because it’s actually easier these days to do a space combat than a realistic dogfight in the sky. It’s easier to rip John Williams music from a CD but a whole lot harder to make a new original theme.

Should we be so evil?
Well, it’s sad to see these things go. But we just don't care anymore just as long as we make something different. We want to make something better. We know a lot of things people wont like, but what do we care, no one has to pay to watch a fan film. If people don't like what we end up with, they can just flame us in forums and deny our existence.

What's goin on
The whole set, the environments will be discussed sometime later, we'll reference real world elements, buildings, architecture. But for now its what we have here. A small but very major update to the B-27. Note that we could've finished this so long ago. But we didn't because were not happy with it and because I was very Ill. This B-27 Red Squadron will come with (like in picture) Military Camo, missiles, rockets, chainguns, torpedoes, armored and tank-like outer shell etc. All of this is based on what we think will make it believable, more military. When we finally finish this thing, we'll let you guys know. But its not too far away from being finished. We're still doing endless research and testing though. The cockpit area is a total mess and some other parts are still on paper. Currently, the polygon count for this basic model is around 700,000 poly. When finished it could be over the million mark. Lower detailed versions of about 100,000 poly will be made later. For close ups we'll make Higher detailed parts. But we're still unsure if this Fighter will have close-ups in the fan film. But it still has bolts on the bodywork.

May the Force be with you.

Episode...I've lost track of what episode...

Modifications to engine cooling and afterburners. Unfortunately I fell ill again. But now I'm better - again. If this goes on I may end up half man half machine like Steve Austin, Alex Murphy and maybe even Darth Vader. But in the real world being half of both worlds isn't a good thing. First of all the machine aplied to your body does not improve you. I don't know of any prosthetic leg capable of launching a guy over walls or make him run faster. Same goes for prosthetic hands - none of them can punch a hole in the wall. So I hope I won't need some machine to help me live. Darth Vader got his genitals fried pretty bad and I'm sure he was given modifications to that part as well. But in the real world, a machine to help you urinate would mean you'll be in a coma in a few weeks before your family members finaly decide the date you should die.

Speaking of modifications, I managed to update on the design of the B-27 Red Team Fighter. Mainly R2-D2's rear guns, main engine cooling, wing turbines, afterburners (thrusters) and some panels, screws. It's still pretty early so there's more to come. It's getting complex and I may have to produce some paper on this subject and also an instruction manual on how to animate this thing. I'm working on some rocket pack-equiped-ejection seats, ejectible energy module, droid rocket loading compartment, radar surface scanner, droid loading compartment, cargo compartment etc etc. Things are looking pretty good, I think its turning out to be not as bad as I thought it was gonna end up. In fact I think it looks better now compared to my drawings. And I also hope to be healthy enough to finish the perspex canopy or in this case 'Transparisteel' canopy. I downloaded an X-Wing reference manual and it had all kinds of weird names like 'Melihat Multi Imager'. Melihat sounds like a malay word meaning 'seeing, see, etc'. Or I could have misread the badly compressed manual or a malay guy was on the Lucas team. So that's it. I hope to be able to update again soon. Of course next time I won't type with my lightsaber severed right hand.

May the Force be with the B-27 pilots.

Episode Fourty Two

Back from the dead.

B-27 Redwing and Tie comparison test

Hi there, I was very ill and actualy thought I was gonna die. I had a bad case of bronchitis and almost got pneumonia. But I had a very severe asthma attack almost 30 of them. I'd wake up completely unable to breathe. My lungs stop working for a few minutes and I almost passed out. All in all I got about 5 severe attacks and push me to a point till I was crying. The Antibiotics I took ravaged my mucus membranes and I was unable to swallow. I lost control of my easophagus. In the first five days of my illness I only managed an average of a few minutes of sleep per day. And on fifth september my limbs went numb and I could barely stand. I was ready for death. But god was with me so here I am again. Alive and kicking!

Strangely during my suffering, I got some mighty cool ideas! I've decided to start making Tie Fighters. Here in this picture are three of them. These are references downloaded from 3dm for free. But I will have to make mine different as all the models in my fan film are different and new models. And I'm thinking of reducing the size of the Tie and adding some more details and wings and more weapons. Also thinking of adding astromech sockets. The B-27 Red Team X-Wing is still unfinished unfortunately, delayed as a result of my decaying health. So I'm back to try and catch up on what I left for dead.

May the Force be with you.

Episode Fourty One

Bluewing - my second concept.

Bluewing Concept

First of all...DON'T WATCH THE CLONE WARS STUPID SH*T MOVIE!!!
Okay, I sure haven't been updating my blog, but thats because I have 1000s of stuff to do. This here is a new addition to my family of X-Wings. As you may know from reading my previous posts I was making a B-27 Redwing. Now, I'm starting on a Bluewing. So these images show some idea of how it may look like. For starters its longer, stronger, slower and heavier. Its supposed to carry a lot of bombs and it doesn't have an astromech. I'm trying to cut the production time of my X-wings by making all three types at once. More on the Redwing later.

May the Force be with you.
